I don't really have any mentor. I am my own mentor and why have one mentor only when everyone has something to teach you. Learning from one person only isnt the best thing you can do. wink

All I can say to this Jason, is I hope you have enough time to make all the mistakes your self. Every high achiever in every field has a mentor.
I learn from everyone!
HUGE difference between learning from everyone, (which is awesome and valuable) in being guided where you aspire to go.

I believe a good mentor -- or mentors -- is so essential, I have it as one of my three steps to success in e-commerce, along with having a plan and automating as much as possible.

I first follow successful entrepreneurs for a while to confirm that their messages make sense and their products have ongoing value. I then contact them and strike up a relationship to ensure compatibility. Ultimately, that means personally confirming their success.

I'm a firm advocate that successful people surround themselves with other successful people. These associations are built on two-way communication and the adage that a rising tide raises all boats.

Normally the people a choose as a mentor are persons with a some track record of proof of success in the internet marketing world. They must also possess supportive and helpful qualities and not just be quick to have me join them as a downline member in their programme and just drop me after.

Mentors are everywhere, but you have to be strategic to find and choose a mentor that is just perfect for you.

To find a mentor requires that you first clearly understand your mentoring needs before you look to fill them. Take the time to define why you need a mentor, then make a list of those who can potentially fill your mentoring needs. To make a list of your prospective mentors think of leaders and influencers in your industry. How about speakers and members of your industry association? LinkedIn is another option – search for professionals in your zip code who can potentially fill your mentoring needs.

My advice is to look for a mentor who has the following characteristics:

  1. Authentic
  2. Empathetic
  3. Creative
  4. Honest
This mentor should be someone who is caring and has a genuine interest in your professional growth.  You also need this person to tell you the truth.  Additionally you will need someone that will give you constructive criticism when necessary, and offer you encouragement to succeed.  Finally, your mentor should have more experience than you have and have a successful track record in what they do.

Great question,

In this new world of Attraction Marketing and Online Marketing, EVERYBODY thinks they are a coach/mentor. People make 1 sale of a $7 ebook on Clickbank and all of a sudden they are calling and marketing themselves a coach/mentor of the year.

The guy whom I consider my first ever coach/mentor was and still is Dale Calvert. I follow him now days through webinars and have many of his trainings. But Dale Calvert taught me a great deal about the MLM industry and being a successful Entrepreneur.

To some Dale can seem a little rough around the edges but the man has a big heart of Gold and truly wants people to succeed and be their best.

Even today when Dale teaches he will start out saying before you let anyone coach or mentor you you need to ask yourself.

Who is this person, why should I listen to them, how much have they made in money, how successful are they and how many other people have they helped become successful who earn an excess of a 6 figure income.

I have been screwed over a few times with these so called mentors prowing around the web.

Anybody can buy a cheap suit off the rack and stand in front of a freaking white chalk board and make a recording.

We've got to really be careful, folk will take your money and leave you hi and dry.

One of my favorite questions William is "How do you know that?"

With the guidance of a trusted mentor, women can learn to overcome the internal and external factors that hold them back, and go on to someone who can suit her in life. Considering attitudes, character, complexion, voice, appearance, dressing, height and structure.
