Drop shipping is simply signing up with a company that provide storage for tangable product that can be ship to customer after a purchase is made from store front. A great example of such a place which provides this service would be Amazon. If you as an affiliate set up a website as a storefront offer there product and a customer makes a purchase from your website, then the product is shipped from the amazon warehouse to the customer and frees you of the responsibility of shipping the product after sales to your customer.

Amazon is NOT A DROP SHIP COMPANY THEY ARE A RETAIL COMPANY!

Drop shipping is a fulfillment model that allows you to buy products individually from a wholesaler and ship them directly to your customer.

Instead of purchasing a large amount of inventory, you simply partner with a drop shipping supplier and list their merchandise for sale. Then, once you receive an order you forward it to the supplier for fulfillment. The supplier will ship the product directly from their warehouse to your customer, and charge you only for the price of the shipped item.

Like all businesses, success and profitability rely on a number of variables. But when done correctly, it’s possible to create highly profitable online businesses with drop shipping. Drop shipping isn’t a magic formula – and real success takes significant work and time – but it’s a viable online business model with very low risk.

Dropshipping is selling someone else's product, and having them send the product to the customer. This is best seen in affiliate offers, but can also be done on your own with a direct supplier willing to hold the product, and ship it to your customers as orders are processed.

Many people have been removed from Ebay for dropshipping, but Amazon seems to have leveraged this method to allow you to refer people to their products and they take care of the fulfillment for you for a fee.

Without consistent involvement, research, and large volume of sales, this is a difficult business model to scale and grow long term. (In my opinion...)

I have just started dropshipping. I have made some money but it takes time and Ebay charges fees to list products. Although, they do offer free listing sometimes. It's a numbers game. I do feel if I stick with it I will be successful.

Drop shipping your products needs some basic elements to establish, For example you need a reliable and SEO optimized webshop, online marketing plan and last but not least patience to reap the benefits of this type of home-based business model on long term.

I have done drop shipping and I researched a lot by watching a few very good drop shippers give away some of their secrets on youtube. After being confident that I knew what to do know I went out there and started listing on ebay and I sold stuff. I was excited but I soon stopped because it was very time consuming and hard to keep track of and you have to list lots of products to get going. There is lots of research and studying and tracking everything. It can drive you insane but I can say that if I had time to sit there all day I would be on my way. Good luck to you.

Clearly, there is some confusion as to what drop shipping actually is and how or where the practice can be applied. I have clients who have been using this method of selling for years. Look, check out this free book for a clearer idea.
