You need a unique offering that people desire, a compelling short video message on a capture page and an auto-responder with short follow up solicitations to those who opt-in. There are systems available that have these integrated.

You definitely need an audience to provide the traffic to your site or offer.  Your offer needs to be valuable and rich in content.  So have an excellent (not just mediocre) offer than really puts out something valuable and needed (E-book, report, video, whatever).  Get traffic to the offer.  Try to pull as much organic traffic in as possible.  Share on your social media and encourage interaction there.  You'll be building a decent list in no time.

Landing/sales page preferably with a short video message if not done by you perhaps use one from a leader in your business with permission or your sponsor. You will need an autoresponder for the subscribers I use Aweber I find it easy to learn and reasonably priced. A lead magnet ie. a free ebook, a free training usually works. Provide value right from your landing page or have the landing page send them to the training or ebook after submitting their name and email.

I started email marketing in 1995. I provided leads and email services for such start up companies like Paypal and a few others that you may be know. The Networking industry was my bread and butter for many years. I have built massive lists on many different platforms over the years.  So I am speaking from many years of building lists and living off them. In fact I have been living in Hawaii for over 10 years debt free. My only income is you guested it the internet!  Anyway I wanted to qualify my answer. So you guy know I am not some person that is blowing smoke!

#1. Auto responder

#2. Capture page

#3. Follow up series  ( effective and proven)

#4. Targeted Traffic!

Heres the catch I stopped building email lists because for me it no longer offers an answer for long term income. Meaning it is mostly not an effective way to build and retain people in Network Marketing. And the reason why most people are failing.

Hi RikRodriguez. Completely agree on all 4 points plus your reason for quitting the list-building. The most important part, IMHO, is the follow-up series ( which nowadays ought to be kept short , to the point and related to whatever it is one is promoting ) is where many mess up and lose subscribers, don't ya' think? Some folks have huge lists but what matters most with anyone's list is the conversion rate. If one has a list of 25,000 but very few are buyers, what good is having that huge list UNLESS you've given such great value/advice over the years that they follow you into just about any business that you recommended. Sort of like the millions that follow the Kardashians, JayZ and B and countless other celebs ( although I personally couldn't care less what they're doing-:) People just can't wait till their next tweet/post.

1. Make it insanely easy for people to sign up to your email list

Whichever tactics you use to build your list, you need to make things extremely simple. If you turn the process of signing up to your list into a long winded process, people won’t subscribe.

2. Make your “opt-in bribe” highly relevant

However you decide to entice people to subscribe to your email list, you need to keep your offer hyper relevant to your target audience.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Checklist
  • Template
  • Cheat sheet
  • Resource list
  • Workbook
  • E-course
  • Video course
  • EBook/guide/report

If you offer a product/service, you could also try offering a discount or a free trial. This could be a great option to use.

3. Choose an email provider

If you’re relying on something like Feedburner to deliver your emails you need to drop it and switch over to a serious email provider.

What email service provider do I recommend?

There’s only one.

It’s called SMART i-AutoResponder (NOT affiliate link).

Why do I recommend SMART i-AutoResponder?

It’s easy to use.

And it’s great for small AND large businesses.

I agree with all the other answers/comments and for my own preference and

in my honest opinion, I enjoy having all the tools in one location in programs

such as this new program offers

It can get very confusing and steal your precious time and energy when you have to

go from site to site to site just to setup a marketing campaign.

And - VERY IMPORTANT - remember to check that any and all necessary trainings on

how to use the tools are included.

The main tools that's needed to build a list:

Capture Page, Sales Page & Autoresponder.

Additional ways using video, a great tool would be a Webinar Platform.

I use all these tools and more that are available in my Marketing System

Use these tools to target your offer to those looking for your particular offer.

I also find that my Digital Business Card is also a great way to get new contacts and engage current contacts.

Really the only thing you need to have is an auto responder.

You should have a website (host domain) landing page...

But you could sign people up to your list just from an email address.

Awesome Answers:

I do agree with RRodriguez on what you need:

#1. Auto responder

#2. Capture page

#3. Follow up series  ( effective and proven)

#4. Targeted Traffic!

It is impossible to expect your list will be 100% responsive, do not remember that when you broadcast an email through your autoresponder to promote an offer or product.

The reason why someone  (the people who receive the email) "is not" responsive  can be due to:

-That offer/product  was not need by him/her at that very moment he/she read the email

-The offer/product has been presented to hi/her a few times ( experts says you should present an offer/product at least 20 times before he/she start feeling curiosity about that product/offer.

Well there's an excellent free ebook that explain all of this You can get it here. Insider Advertising Report
