Keeping up to date with ALL the search engines algorithm. This is the only way people can brand their name online and get targeted traffic from the search engines (especially Google).

We are moving out of the wild west times of search and SEO. Big brands are ruling the roost. SEO is not enough and businesses need to ensure they have their marketing dialed in to continue to compete in search in 2017 and beyond.

Brands need to engage with websites and communities where their audience and potential customers actually spend their time, even if these sites don't hold especially high domain trust or authority.

If you want to rank well for a specific keyword, have some good content, some good on page SEO and some good backlinks and you will get some decent rankings.

An SEO expert's job is NOT to simply make their client's website rank better. High rankings on irrelevant or low volume keywords which land visitors on web pages which don't convert...achieve nothing. An SEO expert must fully understand their client's business objectives and be across all digital marketing channels. They must then work with the client to ensure those objectives are being met.
