How does an autoresponder fit into your business?

As you might know, there are two main types of emails you can send with any email marketing platform:

  • broadcasts
  • autoresponders

Broadcast emails are written to your list and sent once at a particular time.

Autoresponders, on the other hand, are all automated. You create a sequence of emails to send to your subscribers after they sign up for a list.

The downside of using broadcasts to email your list is obvious: it takes time—time to create emails on a regular basis.

The autoresponders I use only send ONE email that explains what I offer in terns of value to those who remain and read my broadcasts that will come next. So far that has worked best for me and produced several 100% referral commissions to those who agree. The best part is, once they see how well it works, they don't quit.

For me it's a great hands off way to market, The auto responder I'm using now is from Aweber which allows for unlimited responders and a very easy to use interface to create the forms and the emails and newsletters. I originally set it up years ago with only 7 messages, however I've added messages to it over the years which allowed me to extend the time I'm in contact with my subscriber.

The best part about an auto responder is (as mentioned above) it's virtually hands off once you get it all set up. You can customize your messages (Dear Steve, thanks Steve, Take care there Steve) in a way where they are very personalized which I believe make a big difference in the overall response and closing rates.

For me, the autoresponder works well form me in terms of providing  the needed follow up email to those subscriber who may had join my mailing list in relation to a product or service I  was promoting hence closing the sale for me. It is already a known fact that more  than 70% of sales received from a product sales page are not made on the customers first visit to the sales page in question.

Now as it relates to a broadcast, this feature enables me to test the reaction or responsiveness of the members of my list to a product I may have created and want to bring to the market place so I can tweak it and make some necessary adjustments before spending money and doing mass advertising.
