There will always be a future in affiliate marketing as long as the internet is alive. It has done nothing but grow tremendously since the early 90's. With that being said one needs to really do their research on the companies one chooses to become an affiliate with as the market has grown so has the scams that will put you spending a lot of time on something that does not move or work well. Niche markets are good but can be very profitable but can end tomorrow as well. I see it like the stock market in ways what is hot today will gain the biggest returns as higher risk. This can make one a lot of money quickly yet the market for that niche product may fade in months or yrs. Some more reputable companies that have been out there for over a decade that is still going strong will not initially get you bunches of money but bring in residual income over time if worked at. I hope this helps answer your question as this is just my 2 cents worth as they say. The biggest thing is research, research, research before joining a company and putting a lot of your valuable time into it (Especially if there is any upfront charges involved). I generally am really weary of someone wanting me to sell their product yet want to charge me to do it as well. So I would do extra research into those before investing in something. There is a bunch of free ones out there though and even though they are free at the start the goal is to get you to do their advertising without paying much in the way of commissions for your efforts so beware.
